Sheikh Mansour of Abu Dhabi, vice-president of the United Arab Emirates and owner of the Manchester City football club, has bought the prestigious Normandy stud farm of Fresnay-le-Buffard (Orne), his entourage announced on Tuesday.
“+Al Wathba Stud+ in Abu Dhabi, belonging to His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice-President, Deputy Prime Minister and President of the Presidential Court of the United Arab Emirates, has acquired the +Haras de Fresnay le Buffard+” , indicates his entourage in a press release.
According to the regional daily Ouest-France, which revealed the information, the amount of the transaction would amount to 26 million euros while the sale would have been official since December 26.
“The stud farm (…), founded in 1903, is a historic stud farm for breeding thoroughbred horses in France. Located mainly in the commune of Neuvy-au-Houlme, in the department of Orne, in Normandy , it acquired international fame under the ownership of Marcel Boussac since 1919, then Stavros Niarchos since 1979, and has been the home of numerous champion horses,” the press release specifies.
According to the offer published on Deauville Sotheby’s International Realty, the estate includes a “castle, with an area of more than 640 m² spread over four levels”.
“The main part of the stud farm extends over 240 hectares in one piece, including 205 hectares of pastures as well as 12 hectares of parks,” specifies Sotheby’s.
