Kylian Mbappé took the path of Real Madrid last summer and his road was winding to say the least in his early days. Lately, the captain of the French team has found color and a smile on the other side of the Pyrenees with a string of goals. So much so that Fabio Capello announces his big comeback.
All Kylian Mbappé that it is, the adaptation to the institution that is the Real Madrid might not be express. Certainly, Jude Bellingham had managed to acclimatize more quickly than Mbappé upon his arrival at the White House a year ago. However, the expectations surrounding the French world champion, hoped for for years by the president Florentino Perez and merengue socios, were tenfold compared to those for the English.
“We waited until December 22 to see Mbappé on the path to fullness”
A little less than five months after its premiere at Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappé finished the first part of the season on a high note at the White House including a goal scored from outside the area with a clear strike while receiving the Sevilla FC last Sunday (4-2). Enough to allow Frédéric Hermeljournalist for RMC Sport covering the news of Spanish football, to make a clear observation on the progress of Mbappé in Real Madrid.
“Mbappé was really good against Sevilla. His shot (on his goal, Editor’s note) is that of someone with confidence, you can feel it. He is a happy man, on the right path. (…) There, we waited until December 22 to see Mbappé on the path to fullness. We feel that Mbappé is integrating. Ancelotti says it himself.”
“But I think he’s back now.”
Fabio Capello was present at the ceremony Globe Soccer Awards Friday. The former coach of Real Madrid sees a Kylian Mbappé close to full possession of its means now on the side of the White House.
“Adapting to a big team like Real Madrid is difficult. I saw international players arrive there and be afraid. Mbappé had problems off the field, not football problems. But I think he’s back now. He has a lot of strength and class. I like him a lot, he’s a player on another level.”
