Ghent ended the year with a defeat on home soil against Union SG (1-3). The day after this defeat, the people of Ghent announced terrible news.
End of season for Max Dean
Hit in the knee after a duel, Max Dean had to leave his place in the second half. And unfortunately for the English striker, the verdict is cruel. He suffers from a torn cruciate knee ligament and will not be able to play again this season.
This is obviously a huge blow for the Buffalos, as Dean was one of the club’s most decisive players this season with 13 goals and 2 assists in 30 appearances.
A new striker should arrive in January
At the time of writing, Andri Gudjohnsen is the only striker still available for Wouter Vrancken. We can therefore expect Ghent to recruit a new offensive element during the winter transfer window. It is in any case unimaginable that the Buffalos end the season with a single attacker while they are still active on three fronts (championship, Croky Cup and Conference League).
