We are a few weeks away from the trade deadline and already we know that Kent Hughes is very likely to be a seller since the Montreal Canadiens should not be able to place in the playoffs again this season.
Among the CH players most likely to be traded, the name of the veteran defender David Savard tops the list. Currently in the final year of his contract before becoming an unrestricted free agent this summer, Savard will certainly have interesting value on the market for a team hoping to compete for top honors in the spring.
Journalists and insiders Pierre LeBrun et Chris Johnston of The Athletic There were also their predictions on where they believed Savard would end up at the trade deadline.
If Johnston sees him becoming a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs, LeBrun, for his part, believes he will finish the season with the Edmonton Oilers.
The Canadiens’ acquisition of Alexandre Carrier all but confirms that veteran David Savard will be traded at the deadline. Even if he would prefer to stay in Montreal, it is a situation that is currently beyond his control.
Considering I don’t believe Savard will cost an arm and a leg on the trade market, teams like the Oilers, who don’t have a 1st round pick this year, will be interested in his services.

It will be very interesting to see which team Savard ends up with over the coming weeks and especially what he will bring to the Canadian.
- Aged 34, David Savard is a 6’1″/235lbs right-handed defenseman selected in the 4th round (94th overall) in the 2009 draft.
