His son Charlie, 15, scored his first hole-in-one Sunday at the PNC Championship.
Woods was more excited than if he had been the perpetrator.
Charlie Woods achieved his masterstroke from a distance of 175 yards using a 7-iron, on the fourth hole of the Ritz-Carlton Club Orlando during the final round of this competition which mainly brings together champions major tournaments with members of their family.
Charlie didn't even know his ball had fallen into the hole. Many spectators seated near the green applauded wildly. Others on the other side used their index fingers, some pointing down to indicate the ball was in the hole, others pointing up to show Woods' score on the hole.
The television cameras finally confirmed the score.
Woods gave his son a warm hug then playfully pushed him away.
“First one,” Charlie announced as the cameras surrounded him.
Better yet, it allowed them to temporarily share the lead in the rankings.
This is the fifth consecutive year that Woods and his son have participated in the 36-hole tournament.
