At a press conference after Bordeaux-Rennes, the Girondins coach, Bruno Irlesspoke about the winter transfer window, confirming that he was looking to strengthen his group.
“Yes, I'm considering recruits, but I'm stopping talking to you about it because I've been talking to you about an attacker for more than three months, and he's still not there (laughs). You're going to tell me 'he talks, he talks, and there's nothing'. We are working… What I want, and what we want with John, is to bring competition to all positions. There are positions today where we don't necessarily have one. But there too it’s complicated… We are in the fourth division, we have a fourth division budget.”
Because yes, it's not that simple since economically, the Bordeaux club does not have much room for maneuver.
“I take a lot of rakes, with John too, because the players ask themselves questions, the players don't come simply for the love of football. There are some for whom it is the financial side that counts, there are some who prefer in Ligue 1 being the 38th player rather than starter for us at the Girondins… But it's very good that they don't come, because we need this mentality, we're going to be on the bus… We don't want to make a mistake. We can't have 30 players, it's not possible, we don't have the means, like the other National 2 clubs. And so, it takes time, but we don't want to make a mistake. We have a little over a month left, since it’s the end of January.”
