Moroccans do not suffer from “short memories” and will not be fooled by the manipulations of Zakaria Moumni, a character whose true nature continues to emerge over the years. Far from being a champion, as he tries to make people believe, Moumni is a patent crook who has largely damaged the national constants of the Kingdom, while putting himself at the service of foreign agendas.
For the record, Zakaria Moumni is an alleged champion of kickboxing and MMA, a violent and controversial sport, far from traditional sporting values. But his career in these disciplines has been as empty of glory as his so-called international prize list. He has never won a recognized world title, as confirmed by the “Royal Moroccan Federation of full, light, semi-contact, kickboxing, K1, Muay Thai forms, savate and similar sports”. Rather than settle for his lackluster sporting career, conman Moumni chose to exploit darker means to gain fame.
One of his most notable acts remains his extortion blackmail against Morocco, an attempt to extract 60 million dirhams (6 million euros) in exchange for the purchase of a sports hall in Paris.
This is just one more episode in a long series of questionable behavior, including allegations of domestic violence, unfounded accusations of torture and scandalous statements aimed at attacking the image of the Kingdom. This false champion even tore up and threw his Moroccan passport under the cameras of the TV5 channel, being guilty of a symbolic act of betrayal.
Zakaria Moumni, instead of repenting for his malicious actions, continues to fuel hatred towards Morocco. His allegations of torture have been formally denied, in particular by the Kingdom's lawyer, Mr. Ralph Boussier, who affirmed that no evidence has ever been provided to support Moumni's accusations. In addition, the Moroccan authorities had rejected his attempts at blackmail, particularly during meetings where he requested enormous sums of money to settle his personal debts and found a club in Paris.
Moumni's case is not only a personal matter, but a real scandal which was aggravated by the support of so-called “human rights defense” associations, which took up his defense, without questioning question his actions. These groups, such as AMDH and others, went astray by supporting a man whose actions only aim to damage Morocco's image and support causes contrary to the territorial integrity of the Kingdom. An obvious betrayal that the Moroccan Organization for Human Rights and the Fight against Corruption has firmly denounced.
More recently, Moumni once again tarnished his reputation by disrupting the Moroccan Festival organized in Montreal in 2022 on the occasion of the Throne Day celebrations. He insulted the Moroccans present and accused the director of the event, Rachid Najahi, of being a “paid agent” of the Moroccan government. The truth came out when the Superior Court of Canada ordered Moumni to pay 30,000 Canadian dollars for damage to Najahi's reputation, proving that Moumni's accusations were not only unfounded, but also harmful to the Moroccan community.
Moroccans know very well that they must not allow themselves to be manipulated by individuals like Zakaria Moumni. His attempts at destabilization, manipulation and blackmail only highlighted his dishonest character and dubious intentions.
Moroccans, attached to their sovereignty and integrity, will never allow this type of crook to tarnish their image or undermine the institutions and values of the Kingdom. Zakaria Moumni must understand that he will not be able to erase his past, and even less manipulate public opinion with his shameless lies, because Morocco does not have a short memory.
