The arrival at the Montreal Canadiens of a defender with more experience like Alexandre Carrier means that Jayden Struble becomes the man too many.
This is what Tony Marinaro explained on Friday, during his daily appearance on the show JiC.

“Before, Struble was in a rotation with [Justin] Barron,” he recalled.
“The arrival of Carrier ensures that there will be no rotation. More often than not, it's going to be Struble who's on the sidelines. If there is a player who gets injured, he will be able to join the training. Otherwise, he will wait his turn.
“It’s not an ideal situation for a young defender.”
Since the start of the campaign, Struble has played 22 of Sainte-Flanelle's 31 matches. The 23-year-old American had two goals and three assists for five points. He also maintained a differential of -6 and received 29 penalty minutes.
In addition, Marinaro and Jean-Charles Lajoie find that Arber Xhekaj has managed to consolidate his place as the Habs' sixth defender. He did it “by taking care of his game and stopping taking unnecessary penalties”.
