Embracing the ermine of Grand-Bornand, Martin Uldal probably wore the most beautiful smile of his career. The 23-year-old Norwegian achieved his first World Cup success this Thursday in Savoie during the sprint contested in the French resort. After making his debut among the elite during the 2021-2022 season, the Lillehammer resident made a comeback with fanfare this winter.
Not selected for the season opener at Kontiolahti, Martin Uldal managed two excellent races at Hochfilzen (7th and 5th), before exploding at Grand-Bornand. Thanks to zero shooting errors, this Fortnite player was ahead of his leader Johannes Thingnes Bø by a second, while the Norwegian made a mistake during his prone shot. The podium was completed by the Swede Samuel Samuelsson, also the author of a shooting error.
On the Swiss side, we will remember the good performance of Sebastian Stalder, 14th. The Grison achieved a flawless shooting, which allowed him to sign his best result of the winter, after missing the Hochfilzen races. Great performance also for Jeremy Finello, definitely in very good shape at the start of the season. The Genevan of French origin was still in 6th place before starting his standing shot. Tired for him, he made 3 mistakes, finally finishing 31st, a minute and a half behind the winner of the day. Dajan Danuser did not start, while Niklas Hartweg, ill, did not make the trip.
