Witnesses and Ultra MMA organizers have been questioned by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) following the death of a fighter after a mixed martial arts event the company hosted near Edmonton on November 25. Or Ultra MMA is linked to the company Ultra Events Ltd. already implicated in the death of another fighter in the United Kingdom two years ago.
At the end of November, a sports evening was organized by Ultra MMA in a community center on the territory of the Enoch Cree Nation. Wounded during his fight, Trokon Dousuah, 33, died two days later. In an email, Ultra Events Ltd. has confirmed that Ultra MMA is one of its brands.
Or Ultra Events Ltd., based in the United Kingdom, has already been singled out after the death of another fighter on April 9, 2022, in Worcester, England. Injured in the head that evening, Dominic Chapman, 26, died two days later in hospital.
Concern of the medical examiner
In his written report following the tragedy, Worcestershire County Coroner David Reid wrote: In my opinion, if nothing is done, more deaths are to be feared.
If according to David Reid, the death of Dominic Chapman was of accidental origin
he said he was concerned about the way the fighters were trained and matched.

They must be stopped before another tragedy happens
On the Ultra MMA website, it is written that training will begin in January for two new fights in March near Edmonton and Calgary. Trokon Dousuah’s cousin said organizing more competitions was absurd. “Enough is enough,” responded Roshe Dousuah.
Asked, Tony Meenaghan, a spokesperson for Ultra Events Ltd. clarified that his company was not directly linked to the one that organized the Trokon Dousuah fight. These are two different entities. We do not organize fights in Canada or North America
he said in an email.
For its part, GRC said the investigation was continuing. A funeral ceremony will be organized in January in memory of Trokon Dousuah.
