Well let’s see.
I don’t know if you want to laugh. But if so, I suggest you watch this excerpt from the Spittin’ Chiclets podcast, in which Paul Bissonnette suggests that Sean Avery could be the Rangers’ next GM.
You read that right.
What Biz heard was that Sean Avery was heading to New York to talk to none other than Rangers owner James Dolan about the “state of the Rangers” right now. As if things weren’t bad enough.
And the former goon added this:
There is a crazy side to James Dolan that makes him consider replacing Chris Drury with Sean Avery as GM of the Rangers. – Paul Bissonnette
Bissonnette says Avery confirmed he was going to talk to the Rangers owner. But obviously, the end of the CEO is the host of the podcast who says that with the elements he has in his hands. That doesn’t mean he’s going to have an interview just because he’s chatting to the Rangers owner.
And let’s just say I don’t believe it. And this, even if his colleagues did not call him crazy after coming out with his idea.
Ok, Dolan needs to shake things up and ok, Sean Avery is still loved in New York. But he doesn’t have the team experience (or as an agent, for example) to take on a club like Rangers right now.
For a change (which the players might want), go get Ken Holland, like… but not AVERY!
I’m not saying Avery can’t be part of the solution. Perhaps his love for the Rangers can be an asset in some position within the organization.
But if a guy like him, who has no experience as a GM and who has a past very controversial, becomes boss of the New York Rangers, I’m going to fall on my behind. And that won’t happen.
