Felice Mazzù did not take as many points as hoped with Sint-Truiden in this first half of the season. He will therefore want to strengthen the core of the Canaries this winter.
This is the usual observation in recent weeks: Sint-Truiden plays fairly good football, but does not take enough points. Felice Mazzù regrets it game after game, but it’s a fact: currently, the Canaries are fighting to maintain their position and are in the red zone.
Reinforcements could therefore arrive this winter, and Mazzù would have a well-known name on his list. A player he managed at Union Saint-Gilloise: according to Importance of Limburg, Seven Van der Heyden (26 years old) would now be on STVV’s radar.
Van der Heyden is currently playing in Mallorca, where he signed in July 2023, but things are not going at all as planned for the former darling of Parc Duden. This season, he had to wait… until December to make his big debut, playing 90 minutes against Celta Vigo, before returning to the bench a week later.
Suffice to say that after 13 matches in a year and a half, Siebe Van der Heyden could well look for a way out this winter. But the former unionist is still under contract until 2028 and valued at 2 million euros; it therefore risks being a little too expensive for Sint-Truiden. A loan would be more plausible.
Van der Heyden played 117 matches with Union Saint-Gilloise at the time, even becoming Red Devil in 2022 thanks to the Brussels club’s impressive performances.
