AS Saint-Etienne could well try to strengthen itself this winter in the race to maintain its position. And one of the names being considered is a Belgian striker!
On a statistical level, the season of Cyriel Dessers (30 years) is not going badly at all at Glasgow Rangers. The former KRC Genk striker has scored 12 goals in 26 games. Solid figures, for a player who cost 5 million euros in the summer of 2023 and from whom a lot was therefore expected in Scotland.
However, we often talk about a departure of the Belgian-Nigerian, who does not always succeed in convincing even if he is a fairly regular starter in Philippe Clément’s team. And AS Saint-Etienne could try to take advantage of it.
According to information from Republican SportsmanASSE would indeed be very interested in Dessers, who is still under contract in Glasgow until 2027. The negotiations are however likely to prove difficult because the Nigerian international (6 caps, 2 goals) is valued at 4 million euros, and Rangers would not let him go easily.
After his debut in Lokeren, Cyriel Dessers exploded in the Netherlands, notably in the colors of Heracles Almelo. Returning to Belgium, he will confirm with Genk, then landing a prestigious transfer to Feyenoord.
Dessers was once considered a potential Red Devil, but will ultimately make his move in 2020 to the Nigeria national team.
