Club Bruges: a flop at 6 million euros at the start

Club Brugge recruited many players last summer. If most of them are successes, some have more difficulty convincing…

Following the departure of Vincent Mannaert, it was Davy Rigaux who mainly took care of the Bruges transfer window last summer. He took care of the sales of Igor Thiago and Antonio Nusa and the arrivals of players like Christos Tziolis, Ardon Jashari and Gustaf Nilsson.

If these three players have been rather convincing since the start of the season, the same cannot be said of Hugo Siquet and Zaïd Romero. The first mentioned must be content to play matches with Club NXT in Challenger Pro League, while the second does not take off from the bench.

Romero fails to win in Bruges

Romero, however, arrived from Argentina with a good reputation last summer. Bruges did not hesitate to pay 6 million euros to attract the former Estudiantes de La Plata defender. But since the start of the season, Romero has not fit into Nicky Hayen’s plans at all. His last match was at the beginning of October and he did not play a single minute in the Champions League.

A Brazilian club is ready to revive it

This situation could push the 25-year-old to leave Belgium in January. According to information from Brazilian journalist Diego Torbes, Grêmio Porto Alegre have already expressed interest in Romero. It remains to be seen whether a transfer to Brazil will interest the Bruges resident.
