Standard failed to do better than a draw (0-0) against Beerschot. For Philippe Albert, the savior of Les Rouches is called Matthieu Epolo.
Following the match which ended in a goalless score between Beerschot and Standard, Philippe Albert analyzes the performance of Rouches. A performance that should worry Liège supporters?
“When we see all the saves made by Matthieu Epolo, we can say that Standard did well by bringing home a point from Beerschot,” points out the former Red Devil at the microphone of Sudinfo.
“OK, the Antwerp team has come back to life a little in recent weeks. But to see the Rouches suffer in this way… We have to tip our hat to Epolo, who has come back well after Arnaud Bodart’s injury,” underlines the consultant. “He earned a point on his own this Saturday. And more generally, he had the reaction that everyone expected after his ups and downs at the start of the season.”
For the rest, courage and talent are two different things.
“For the rest, courage and talent are two different things. Leko said he didn’t pay attention to possession. And I think he’s right,” confides Albert. “Because if Standard had the ball more often, I think they would have a better chance of being beaten…”
The former Newcastle player does not hesitate to question the quality of the Liège core: “There is therefore reason to ask questions about the quality of the core. With Zeqiri and Eckert Ayensa, the Rouches have two good attackers. But you still have to feed them with defensive midfielders, it still seems complicated to me,” he concludes.
