Did LTC oust En Avant Guingamp from the organization of the housing fair in the future Lannion events center? This is what managers of the EAG events subsidiary told the local press on Monday, December 9. Asked to respond, Gervais Egault, president of Lannion-Trégor Community, did not respond to the media. It is now done. Monday December 16, flanked by his vice-president of communications, Cécile Auriac, and his chief of staff, Gervais Egault wanted to clear up “some misunderstandings”.
“Event organizers came forward this summer” for the organization of a fair dedicated to housing, specifies the president of the agglomeration. EAG? “It was us who went to them.” In total, three companies were in the running: GL Events, an events giant, which notably worked for the Olympic Games, Deficom (which organizes home fairs in Brittany), and EAG. Since the end of October, “the management of the event park has not had any news from En Avant (…) Is it too expensive for them? Too big? We have no idea.” Before EAG’s rant, Egault explains having had contact with its president, Fred Le Grand. “I told him to let me watch. I thought he would have given me time.”
“There must be only one home fair”
By signing with a big name in events, the Lannion area hopes to start making a profit, the word is assumed, a heavy investment – around 15 million euros. GL Events is arriving with, in addition to the show dedicated to housing called Viving, a wine and gastronomy show and another dedicated to industry, and a three-year commitment. “They have the capacity to deploy the marketing force that goes with it,” defends Gervais Egault, “and I do not question EAG.” At the risk of interfering with similar, smaller-scale events elsewhere in the country? “No,” assures Cécile Auriac. LTC specifies that instructions have been given to work with local companies.
Will there be two home fairs in Lannion in 2025, a few days apart? No, assure Gervais Egault and Cécile Auriac, confident that the town of Lannion would not accept that EAG settles in Ursulines. “There must be just one home fair,” says the first, “it must take place at the events park.”
Calogero? Yes but
Another hiccup. In a message sent to local editorial staff on Thursday, December 12, LTC announced the names of artists expected for the opening of the venue. Among these, Calogero and Waly Dia. In the meantime, the agglomeration has been hit on the wrist by the companies that produce these artists to the point that today, Gervais Egault prefers “that we no longer announce anything”, before the marketing of the places is possible. These artists are always expected. Like Laurent Gerra. But for now… Shh!
Who to inaugurate and what name for the place?
The inauguration of the events park is planned for June. An event will take place to allow Trégorrois to discover the place. Highlight of the show, a concert with a personality whose name will be revealed on January 31 during the agglomeration’s greetings ceremony. The same day the name of the new equipment will be announced.
