The meeting between OM and LOSC (1-1) was marked by two incidents of play which were heavily criticized by the Vélodrome, thus forcing Willy Delajod to leave the pitch with the police. Roberto De Zerbi, the Marseille manager, also complained about the refereeing after the game. First in the 35th minute, when the Icelandic Hakon Haraldsson collapsed in the area following an intervention by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, but the Refereeing Department ensured that “the Marseille player plays the ball and clearly touches it first, with a controlled gesture in the single direction of the ball (…) There is therefore no infringement. Then a second unclear situation during contact between Gabriel Gudmundsson and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg ten minutes from time, in the Lille area. But while this fact of the game has caused a lot of talk, the FFF assures in its press release that “the Marseille player first has the full opportunity to head the ball and it is in a second phase that contact with the Lille player occurs (…) The intervention of the Lille player can thus be considered as not not amounting to a fault within the meaning of the Laws of the Game. This is the reason why the intervention of video assistance in the refereeing, after analysis, was not expected as a manifest error.. The FFF therefore agrees with Mr. Delajod.
