“Netflix’s good surprise”: it’s the most viewed film in 88 countries including France! – Cinema News

As expected, this action film starring Taron Egerton released on December 13 on Netflix is already first in the weekly top. This is what the spectators thought…

As expected, Carry-On has taken the lead in the most viewed programs currently on Netflix in and the rest of the world.

This highly entertaining action film follows a young air security agent who must face blackmail from a mysterious passenger who threatens to smuggle a dangerous package onto a plane on Christmas Eve… Flirting on the nostalgia of part of the spectators for the 80s/90s, the film directed by Jaume Collet-Serra was relatively well received by subscribers.

Netflix's miracle recipe?

If we take a look at its AlloCiné profile, Carry-On currently has an average of 3.5 out of 5 for 337 ratings. Spectators praise the performances of Taron Egerton and Jason Bateman, as well as the control of the tension, which makes you want to go to the end to discover the final outcome:

“Very tense throughout. And that's a compliment. We forget the first few minutes of the introduction which were not very inspiring.” (Lecter H)

“In terms of entertainment Carry-on does the job. It's rhythmic, efficient, breathtaking. A few big tricks, like in all action films, a scenario without much revolution, but in the end a good Christmas film to watch on Sunday under your favorite blanket.” (Just me)

“A decent thriller. Scenes that follow one another at a relentless pace, good actors and an original playground with a well-crafted storyline. Too bad that a lot of (arranged) and often improbable storylines pollute the whole thing” (Pascal I)

“The nice surprise from Netflix is Carry On. The film puts you under high tension very quickly and doesn't let you go until the final outcome. The staging is very effective as is its story which never gets lost in what it has to tell. The casting is convincing and the face-to-face work works brilliantly. Every scene, every shot is interesting. A stressful thriller that never lets you know how it will end. A very good Christmas film to watch without hesitation.” (Simply Loic)

“Very good action thriller! This film literally made me sweat because it was so gripping! The actors are very convincing. The only flaw: some plot facilities, but nothing too extravagant and it remains very light compared to other films of the same style. In short, if you're looking for a film full of tension and action, don't hesitate to watch Carry-On.” (Margot_LRY)

For several years, Netflix has offered its subscribers an end-of-year film or blockbuster. After the space opera Rebel Moon last year and the whodunit Knives Out 2 previously, it's Carry On's turn to take this slot. And for this, the platform relied on Taron Egerton, an actor who has just joined its team. But what seems to have particularly pleased here is the association of the Christmas film / the action film – a mixture which already worked wonders on Crystal Trap.

And even if it is pure entertainment, the teams have given themselves the means to make their plot credible, by calling on real TSA agents (airport security) and filming in a real airport…

Carry-On, watch on Netflix.
