UEFA is more than doubling the stake: 41 million euros in funding will be paid during the next Women’s Football Euro in Switzerland (from July 2 to 27, 2025), the body announced on Monday, December 16. An increase of 156% compared to the 2022 edition in England (16 million euros), the European Union of Football Associations highlighted.
This increase is part of a constant trend of growth in women’s football for a decade, particularly encouraged by UEFA. Indeed, the prize fund for the continental tournament has increased fivefold since Euro 2017 (8 million euros). The organizing body of the Euros, but also of the men’s and women’s Champions Leagues, announced in October its intention to invest one billion euros in women’s football by 2030.

A maximum of 5.1 million euros
In detail, however, gigantic disparities remain between the men’s and women’s European Nations Championships. While the winners of Euro 2024 could collect up to 28.5 million in performance bonuses by remaining undefeated, the future European champions will have to be content with a maximum of 5.1 million euros. . In 2022, the English, winners of the competition, left with 2.08 million euros.
Each of the sixteen selections qualified for the next Euro in Switzerland will receive a minimum of 1.8 million euros, compared to 9.25 million euros in participation bonus for the men’s teams participating in the final phase of Euro 2024.

Clubs which release players for the competition will be compensated, for a total amount of 6 million euros (+ 33% compared to the previous edition), or 657 euros per player and per day of release. During Euro 2024, UEFA affiliated clubs received between 3,300 euros to 10,000 euros per day per player, according to a calculation of West France.
In Switzerland in 2025, the selections which reach the quarter-finals, the semi-finals or the final will receive 550,000, 700,000 and 850,000 euros respectively. During the men’s Euro 2024 in Germany, for teams reaching the same stages of the competition, the rewards amounted to 2.5, 4 and 5 million euros respectively.
