John Tavares reached the 15-goal mark with a hat trick and the Maple Leafs defeated the Buffalo Sabers 5-3 on Sunday in Toronto.

Tavares completed his hat-trick into an empty net after scoring twice in just over a minute in the middle period.

Max Domi and Nick Robertson each added a goal and an assist for the Leafs, who were down 3-1 midway through the second period. Bobby McMann was complicit in two nets.

Toronto has won three of their last four games. Their next meeting will take place Wednesday evening in Dallas.

Jack Quinn (twice) and Alex Tuch fought back for Buffalo, which is facing a 10th straight loss (0-7-3).

The club will have another opportunity to change the game Tuesday evening, at the Bell Center, against the Montreal Canadiens.
