While Faut had just sent his penalty to the post, the outcast of the evening spoke kindly from the edge of the locker room to a Lourdais delegate: “Tonight there is nothing good for you, you have a great team and you play nice football but we are angry and we want to hold on to the three points.”
For the record, on the penalty returned by the post the FCL obtains a corner and at the end of this corner kick second penalty for the locals for a handball error in the area. This time, it’s Baulier who sticks to it and with his left paw deceives the excellent Moreira (1-2, 90th).
Additional time will not be enough for Lourdais to pocket, at least, the draw that they would have deserved given their even more obvious domination in the second half.
That said, Léguevin made sure to take the lead on the scoreboard by standing up to the FCL and putting them in danger, particularly on their left side where the M’Bengue – Tahlaiti duo was giving the Lourdais defenders a hard time, just like Belaaziz in the axis elsewhere. And what was supposed to happen, happened when Tahlaiti superbly curled a ball past Sarthou at the far post. An MBappé goal, some said, but which made the visitors happy (0-1, 37th).
The FCL was not inactive but its attackers came up against a wall called Moreira despite the attempts of Faut and Laffargue (10th) Séguret (12th) or Amaré (35th). Sarthou, his opposite number, was not unemployed either and had to slam the head of Belaaziz (14th) and the returning corner of D. Delpierre (38th) with his fist. At rest the FCL was leading but the impression left by Léguevin did not bode well.
Léguevin doubles the bet.
The restart confirmed the doubts because on a well-executed counterattack Tahlaiti doubled the lead by beating the Lourdes defenders (0-2, 51st).
Lourdes then exerted control over the match but without being able to fault the visitors who did not bother with embellishments like the seven cards received, proof of their presence at both ends of the pitch. And as Moreira continued his festival, the FCL had to rely on this penalty from Baulier to save what could still be saved, but which was not.
A first defeat at Lannedarré which does not erase everything, however, a welcome warning before tasting the truce.
