The 2024 Awards ceremony of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), which will take place on Monday December 15, 2024, also promises to be an ode to the cultural and artistic wealth of the continent, carried by exceptional artists such as the icon of Tanzanian Music, Diamond Platnumz, and the Moroccan prodigy with a singular style, Dystinct, under the sparkling lights of the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech.
While the prestigious evening will pay tribute to the best players, coaches and teams of the past year, it will also provide a vibrant stage for creators who shine the artistic soul of Africa. From 7:00 p.m. local time (6:00 p.m. GMT), Marrakech will become the scene of a dialogue between the beautiful game and the muses of music and dance, reports a press release from the African football body.
A true living legend, Diamond Platnumz alone embodies the power and elegance of Bongo Flava, which he enriched with a touch of Afrobeat to conquer the international scene. A multi-talented artist, he has distinguished himself as a singer, songwriter and visionary entrepreneur. Founder of the Wasafi empire, including WCB Wasafi Record Label, Wasafi Bet and Wasafi Media, Platnumz has become an essential reference by surpassing the extraordinary milestone of 900 million views on YouTube, a feat never before achieved by an artist residing in Africa.
With an impressive discography, marked by the albums Kamwambie (2010), Lala Salama (2012), A Boy from Tandale (2018) and First of All (2022), Diamond Platnumz has been able to redefine the standards of contemporary African music, while establishing himself as a charismatic and committed figure, collaborating with major international brands.
Alongside this Tanzanian legend, Dystinct will bring the freshness and originality of his music, a subtle blend of R&B, Afrobeat and Arab influences. This young Moroccan talent, who perfectly embodies the union between tradition and modernity, has attracted a wide audience thanks to his albums Mon Voyage (2021) and Layali (2023), which have earned him numerous awards.
