The end of the match will not always be able to smile on Thoniers. A week after taking advantage of the long stoppages in play (90th + 7) to get back on the path to victory (2-1) against Bourg-en-Bresse at Guy-Piriou, the Concarneau players did not succeed to benefit from the circumstances to avoid a fourth defeat in five championship matches, last night, against Quevilly-Rouen Métropole. Returning to the match in the 70th minute on a penalty from Kielt (2-1) following a foul committed on Soukouna, Stéphane Rossi’s men ran into a wall throughout the last 25 minutes despite their numerical superiority (the Quevillais Dede-Lhomme received a second warning by causing the foul in his penalty area). This same Kielt certainly narrowly missed the target (79th), and Tchaptchet equalized by a hair, since he forced a Norman to save on his line (86th), it was insufficient.
Concarneau may have regrets
USC therefore ended up paying for its failed first period, during which the Leopards took the lead by being efficient. From the 9th minute, Tshipamba took advantage of a good relay with Dali-Amar to open the scoring, Salles not having a sufficiently firm hand (1-0). The two men did it again a little later, in the same order, the Queville striker leaving the Breton goalkeeper no chance (2-0, 36th). Jannez’s partners could, however, have equalized between these two achievements since Patron, the local goalkeeper from Vannes and trained in Brest, had to deploy to deflect a recovery from Injai, served behind (31st).
After an interesting start, US Concarneau showed signs of running out of steam at the end of 2024. Now on to 2025.
