French team, there is something that we will not see again before 2026

This will be a great first in almost forty years. In 2025, the French team will not play any friendly matches, and will only have official matches to play.

Good news for all those who have nightmares thinking about certain friendly matches of the team: you are rid of this scourge until 2026. Next year, the Blues will in fact only play competitive matches official.

On the Tricolores' program, there will first be the Nations League quarter-final against Croatia in March. The international windows of September, October and November will then be devoted to the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. And in June, two options are possible: either the Blues will compete in the Final Four of the Nations League; or, if they are beaten by Croatia, Kylian Mbappé's teammates will have to start the qualifying campaign for the next World Cup. In any case, the year 2025 of the French team will be made up of ten matches, all official.

For the Blues, no friendly match before 2026

The next friendly match for the France team will take place in 2026. It will be in March if all goes well, that is to say if the Blues are already qualified for the World Cup. Otherwise, they will have to compete in dangerous play-offs. In June, the Tricolores will have two friendly matches on the program, a priori, and we hope that these will be preparation matches for the World Cup.

According to L'Equipe, this is only the second time in the history of the France team, since 1904, that the Blues will not play any friendly matches (it happened in 1985, and that's it). For Didier Deschamps, this is not necessarily good news, since it deprives the coach of matches without stakes, to carry out tests. This is why “DD”, in part, carried out a major squad review this fall during the group stage of the Nations League.
