Alpine skiing – World Cup. Val d'Isère: sprained ankle for Clément Noël, last-minute decision for the slalom

Clément Noël fell during the giant this Saturday in Val d'Isère. After medical examinations at the beginning of the afternoon, the news is rather reassuring. He will test himself on Sunday morning in preparation for his participation in the slalom.

Suddenly, the public held their breath at the foot of the Face de Bellevarde. After an inside fault, Clément Noël hit a gate before ending up in the nets and advertising posters, after 45 seconds of racing, during the giant. Touched, the local hero remained for many minutes at the side of the track. He then descended accompanied by a ski patroller-rescuer to the finish area. He greeted the spectators. With a smile… bloody, from the shock. The skier from Val d'Isère has two broken teeth. His right leg was stiff with what appeared to be an injured ankle. He remained smiling in the mixed zone with his partner and the French camp.

Sprained ankle, decision Sunday morning for the slalom

After a few exchanges with the French staff, Clément Noël quickly left the foot of the Face. He must undergo additional examinations in particular with Stéphane Bulle, the Blues' doctor, to obtain a precise diagnosis in order to make a decision regarding his participation in Sunday's slalom, where he is the big favorite at home after his two successes in Levi and Gurgl. There was concern.

Clément Noël was first examined at the Hôtel des Bleus. He then underwent examinations at the beginning of the afternoon (x-rays and ultrasound) showing that he suffered from a sprained right ankle. “Care will be provided to him to optimize his chances of taking the start for the slalom. The decision will be made after the warm-up on the skis tomorrow morning,” specifies a federal press release at 3 p.m.
