Even though Samuel Montembeault and Cayden Primeau took part in today’s practice, another goalkeeper was also on the playing surface to receive shots from the Habs players.

According to what we have been able to learn, it is Étienne Gélinas, a 20-year-old goalkeeper who plays for the training of the École de Technologie Supérieure (ÉTS) at the university level.

We bet he’s not used to receiving shots of such velocity.

So far this season, he has won his three starts and maintained a 1.66 goals-against average and .939 save percentage when facing Amateur Athletic Union College Hockey (AAU) teams. This is an amateur league that only brings together American universities.

He also played five games in Division 2 of the RSEQ. In this league he has an average of 3.60 and a save percentage of 82.5%.

Originally from Trois-Rivières, Gélinas played the last three seasons with the Dragons of Collège Laflèche before joining ÉTS.
