Shortly after joining Crystal Palace (it was mid-June), the Moroccan international joined the infirmary, injured in the knee against Norwich on August 27. Announced absent for a period of three months, the central defender finally made his return, after resuming collective training at the end of November.
Chadi Riad took part in the Crystal Palace U21s’ Premier League International Cup match against RSC Anderlecht last night, a competition which began in 2014 and which brings together twelve English teams in addition to twelve European teams, with players under 23 years old.
“Chadi Riad will play with our U21s on Tuesday. He will play his first 45 minutes after three months, but he is doing really well”declared his coach, Oliver Glasner, during the press conference before the Premier League match against Manchester City, which was played this Saturday.
The native of Palma de Mallorca has so far missed 15 Eagles matches, in all competitions, but also the last three meetings of the National Team, all organized as part of the CAN-Morocco 2025 qualifiers.
As a reminder, the 21-year-old defender was transferred from Betis Sevilla for an amount of 15 million euros, to which is added 2 million euros in bonuses. Everything is divided between Real Betis and FC Barcelona, its training club.
His contract with Crystal Palace runs until June 30, 2029.
