Before the Croky Cup match between Anderlecht and Westerlo, Olivier Renard spoke to RTL about his projects as sporting director of the Mauves et Blancs.
Asked about the winter transfer window and the club’s ambitions in January, Renard confirmed his intention to strengthen the team.
“I think everyone knows there are specific positions where we are lacking numerically,” he said. “For a coach it can be a problem in case of injuries or suspensions. Yes, there are one or two priority positions.”
This statement seems to point clearly towards central defense, where Anderlecht are looking to strengthen in both quality and quantity.
Njie in Renard’s sights
According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Renard is already actively working behind the scenes for the winter transfer window. Among the targets identified, Haruna Rasid Njie figures prominently.
