The senior girls’ team in PN (pre-national) of the HBCC (Handball club ) has played seven matches since the start of the 2024-2025 season. She didn’t lose any. Spotlight on a thunderous start to the season.

Since the start of the 2023-2024 season, the senior girls’ team in PN (pre-national) of the Handball club Carcassonne (HBCC) has had one series of successes. In the space of seven matches, no defeat has hindered their rise. The objective is clear, “aim for promotion to national 3”for the new coach, Zied Meddeb, who arrived last August.

“We only have one match left before finishing the first phase. Whatever happens, we will be first in our group, he emphasizes. At the end of the winter break, from January, we will be increased. Once again, eight matches will await the girls, until mid-May, this time with an increased level.”

Let’s go back a few months. In mid-August, preparation began. A relatively long period before the first match, at the end of September, which allowed us to establish a game plan. “I didn’t know them, we had to discover ourselves, in order to unite the group, remembers the coach. They are generally between 21 and 22 years old, with two more experienced players in their thirties. Between last season and this one, the squad was enriched with many young people from the club who moved up. “At first it was difficult but we quickly adapted”confides Lisa the captain.

How the presidency sees these results

Faced with these convincing results, club president Roger Bousquet does not hide his satisfaction: “We are committed to developing both the men’s and women’s teams. Looking at the outcomes of the various matches, the group lives up to the ambitions that drive it.”

Once the second phase begins, the training will be more intense to respond to adversity. “The level will go up a notch, we must respond, declares the coach. With the different talents that make up the team, we are able to perform.” But first, there is one last match left: the one against Pamiers, on December 14 at 7 p.m.
