Hautekiet and Leko react to OHL’s disputed goal at Standard: “Visser is the best referee in the championship, but he didn’t feel the game”

“Yes, for me there is a fault, commented Ibe Hautekiet on the microphone of DAZN, in a strangely calm tone. I feel like my leg is stuck when I want to punch. What bothers me is that if it happens on the other side and it’s a defender who prevents an attacker from hitting, we automatically whistle!”

“We didn’t learn our lesson!”

But more generally, the Standard defender railed about the fact that his team once again played with fire, and that he ended up getting burned again. “We didn’t learn our lesson from the previous weeks and the match in Charleroi and, even in stoppage time, we tried to play short to get the ball out instead of clearing.”

Camara active, Zeqiri decisive, Hautekiet not hard enough: the ratings of Standard – OH Leuven

Ivan Leko joined the analysis of his player. “We are a young team and we may have lacked professional skills […] For me, Mr. Visser is the best referee in our championship. He has experience and character. But he didn’t feel the game in this action.”

And the Standard coach developed his idea: “Our player did not miss his clearance. He was embarrassed. At this location, all it takes is a touch to be destabilized. Of course, it’s not an action where you can break a leg, but you can still see that it’s bothering him… I think nine out of ten referees would have called this foul.”

Not Visser, obviously.
