The only French stage of the Mogul Skiing World Cup will not take place. Scheduled for December 13 and 14, 2024 at Alpe d’Huez, the event was canceled by the International Ski Federation (FIS). This decision is explained by the mild weather which has affected the Alps in recent days and the lack of snow on the slopes. The climatic conditions do not allow “adequate artificial snow production”according to a press release from the federation.
“The FIS is actively considering various possible options to reschedule the competitions or move them to another venue. Updated information on these efforts will be communicated in the coming days as the plans evolve.”reports a press release from the FIS.
This decision is a disappointment for French organizers and supporters. The season marks the return to competition of Olympic champion Perrine Laffont after more than a year of absence. A return with fanfare including a gold medal during the first stage of the championship in Ruka, Finland, and a second place in Sweden on December 6, 2024. Supporters will therefore not be able to enjoy what could have been a victory French at home.
