Electric car news
The results of a recent study conducted by AutoPacific shake up preconceived ideas about consumer expectations in terms of electric vehicles. The analysis of more than 14,000 potential buyers reveals a marked trend towards 7-seater electric SUVs and crossovers, a segment still little exploited by manufacturers.
Growing demand for family electric SUVs
The numbers speak for themselves: almost 50% of buyers SUVs and three-row crossovers say they are ready to switch to an electric version. Even more significant, 8% of them affirm their firm intention to acquire such a vehicle. These statistics make sense when you consider the limited number of models currently available on the market.
Models currently available:
Price, determining factor for mass adoption
The study highlights a crucial aspect: 59% of potential buyers are looking for a vehicle below the bar 50 000 euros. This economic reality explains the commercial success of the Kia EV9, one of the few affordable models in the segment. Manufacturers must take this parameter into account for their future developments.
Typical buyer profile and future prospects
The target market is clearly emerging: a female driver living in an individual house, traveling less than 50 kilometers daily. This typical user appreciates technological innovations and the ecological aspect, without wanting to sacrifice comfort or practicality. AutoPacific's projections anticipate dramatic growth in the segment from 100,000 units in 2024 to 400,000 in 2029.
Expected new models and market developments
The offer will expand quickly with the planned arrival of new models:
Model | Release date | Positioning |
---|---|---|
Cadillac Escalade IQ | 2024 | Premium |
Lucid Gravity | 2024 | Luxe |
Hyundai IONIQ 9 | 2024 | Grand public |
This diversification of the offer responds to a growing demand for zero-emission family vehicles. Manufacturers will nevertheless have to take up the challenge of offering spacious and efficient vehicles, while maintaining accessible prices to attract customers who are increasingly demanding on these criteria.
