The last matches of the preliminary round of Euro 2024 women’s handball made it possible on Tuesday to define the two groups for the main round, which will logically include the Norwegian Olympic champions and the French world champions. The two favorite nations for the final victory were already assured of continuing the competition with three successes in as many matches played.
The main round consists of two groups of six countries, with the top two per group qualifying for the semi-finals. That of France, Poland, Hungary and Sweden was completed Tuesday evening by Romania and Montenegro, respectively winners of Serbia (27-25) and the Czech Republic (28-21). The other group in the main round will be made up of Norway, which will notably cross paths with Denmark, bronze at the Paris Games. Slovenia, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Germany will be the other four nations vying for semi-final spots in the second group.
