Wydad Casablanca, competing for the 2025 Club World Cup which will take place in the United States from June 15 to July 13, was placed in pot 3, according to Foot Rankings.
Casablanca’s Wydad could face formidable opponents like Brahim Diaz’s Real Madrid, Chelsea, or even the Brazilian team. In any case, Wydad, under the leadership of Rulani Mokwena, will have to exceed expectations to honor Morocco’s participation in the first 32-team World Cup.
During this final phase, the WAC will be joined by three other African clubs in this expanded competition: Al Ahly of Cairo, Esperance of Tunis and Mamelodi Sundowns.
Club president Hicham Ait Menna, along with club legend Nouredine Naybet, will represent the metropolitan club at the draw ceremony, scheduled for Thursday, December 5 in Miami, Florida.
Wydad qualified for the new Club World Cup format by winning the 2021-2022 Champions League at the expense of Al Ahly.
As a reminder, the tournament will see the participation of 32 teams from the four corners of the globe, including Wydad de Casablanca. This edition will mark the first expanded version of the competition, which will see prestigious clubs like Real Madrid and Al Ahly join Wydad.
