After having held the position of president of the Quebec Federation of Hunters and Fishermen (FédéCP) for eight years, Marc Renaud decided to change chairs by becoming the new general director of the organization, which represents hunters and fishermen in Quebec . Its goal is to advance the federation to new heights.
“I accepted these new responsibilities in order to work to advance the Federation. For some time, the organization had been stagnating. We were comfortable in our slippers, explains the new CEO. My primary goal is to arrive with strategic planning. We will put it on the table next February. »
By appointing him to this position, the board of directors also set targets for him to achieve.
“The board of directors was clear with me in telling me that we had to accelerate the development of the Federation. To do this, we must be able to support the regional and member associations in what they do. We need to give them even more tools, which will help them give us even more visibility in the different regions of Quebec. We want to go to the regions so that our members and the general public see us. We must continue our work of uniting Quebec hunters and fishermen while people are trying to divide the wildlife community. We must unite to be stronger. »
BE A GATHER
In his mind, it is clear that to tackle all the issues in the field, the Federation must play its role as a unifier.
“We must have a very united community in the world of hunting and fishing in Quebec. To do this, our goal is to maintain relationships with amateurs, just as we do with our partners. My role is one of unifier for the world of hunting and fishing in Quebec, so that the practice of these two heritage activities continues. »
It must be said that this man is not the latest arrival in the industry. He knows what he is talking about since he has been involved in various organizations for 24 years. Among other things, he was president of the Association of Waterfowlers of the North Shore and regional president of the Fédération québécoise deshunters et fishermen (FédéCP) for the Laurentians, before becoming provincial president.
Like many hunters and fishermen today, including myself, he wonders about the future of the world of wildlife in Quebec.
“We have to ask ourselves the question of what will happen with hunting and fishing in the future. Will our grandchildren who are interested in this environment be able to experience what we experienced? »
SECURING THE FUTURE
He wants to use his new position to help boards achieve their ambitions.
“Hunters and fishermen in Quebec must understand that we are here to represent them with dignity. »
He wants to go even further in the matter of succession.
“The next generation is very important for the Federation. Moreover, at our fundraising dinner, we had, for the first time, a woman as honorary president, who was enthusiastic, Ms. Andrea Fonseca from the company Intact Assurances. She also spoke about the next generation of women in the world of hunting and fishing. You should know that the female generation exceeds 30%. This is a good example of a challenge that awaits me, namely the promotion of our hunting and fishing activities for the next generation. This generation includes young and old, women and even families. I also have other challenges that I want to achieve with our volunteers, our member associations and our partners. I want to be more and more visible in the region to represent the Federation well. »
For decades, the Federation has given itself the mandate to defend the interests of hundreds of thousands of hunters and fishermen in Quebec. This is what new general manager Marc Renaud wants to continue to do.
A successful fundraising dinner for Héritage Faune

- The event was held at the Hôtel Québec, under the honorary presidency of Ms. Andrea Fonseca, senior national director of sales and business development and insurance programs at Intact Assurances.
