STVV had to settle for a point at home after the derby against KRC Genk. But the Trudonnaires have every reason not to be happy…
STVV played a very good match against KRC Genk last Sunday. However, they received a serious blow in the final moments: Ibrahima Bangoura equalized, although a handball could have been called.
VAR could not confirm this 100% based on the images at their disposal. This is why the goal was not canceled. The Arbitration Department reacted to this (Read HERE).
DAZN released new images on Monday clearly showing Bangoura touching the ball with his hand before it enters the goal. The president of STVV, David Meekersdoes not wish to dwell on this subject. “Actually, no. The images speak for themselves, everyone can draw their own conclusions,” he told The Importance of Limburg.
The club will also not file a complaint with the Referees Department. “Of course, it’s frustrating that this is happening twice in one month. But rather than crying over what could have been, we’re proud of what is.”
“We remember that STVV dominated this derby in terms of play and that our supporters created a magnificent atmosphere, without any incident, in accordance with the values of our club,” concluded Meekers.
