KRC Genk – Sporting Charleroi: the debrief – RCSC

Royal Charleroi Sporting Club – OH Leuven: the debrief ????️

This Saturday, November 23, the Zebras traveled to the Cegeka Arena at KRC Genk to face the leader. A look back at a magnificent evening in the game, but sad in result.

The summary of the meeting ⚽️

The Zebras started the match with a bang with a first opportunity in the first minute of play. It’s simple: Sporting de Charleroi took Genk by the throat from the start of the match with Adem Zagence as the driving force, in the oven and in the mill. Rik De Mil’s men were able to put the Limburg goalkeeper in danger on several occasions, notably with a shot from Adem Zorgan and a header from Nikola Stulic. By completely dominating, through the production of beautiful football, the Carolos conceded only one real opportunity to Genk during this first period (a shot from Heynen arriving on the post of Martin Delavallée). Only one thing was missing at the break: a deserved goal for the visitors who continued to control the first half of the match.

Returning from the locker room, the second half was of the same level from both teams. An XXL opportunity for Nikola Stulic was saved by Limburg defender El Ouahdi on his goal line. With less than 20 minutes to go, the locals managed to punish Sporting in just a few moments. Arokodare, Steuckers and finally Sternberg managed to reverse the trend of the match by scoring three goals almost in quick succession against the willing, courageous and superior Zebras who never managed to unlock the scorer.

Final score of the match: 3 goals to 0 for KRC Genk. A heavy and severe score which does not reflect the nature of a match where the Zebras will have given everything to bring back points from the leader’s den.
