Polish Iga Swiatek, 23, then world No.1, missed three tournaments in September and October due to a suspension for doping, the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) revealed on Thursday.
Iga Swiatek, currently 2nd player in the world, missed the WTA 500 tournaments in Seoul (September 16-22), the China Open, a WTA 1000 from September 25 to October 6, and the WTA 1000 in Wuhan from September 7 to 13. october. The reason for his crimes had not been communicated.
Provisionally suspended on September 22, Iga Swiatek appealed, and the investigation led by the International Integrity Agency (ITIA) admitted that the contamination was not intentional and that no fault or negligence had been committed by the player. Swiatek therefore accepted, on Wednesday, the one-month suspension proposed to him and which was then served between September 22 and October 4.
