Since last Friday, Swiss Olympic has known the identity of its next president: Ruth Metzler. Among the main files which will be the responsibility of the former federal councilor are the candidacies for the organization of the Winter Olympic Games and, even more important in the eyes of the national federations which supported her, including those of athletics and gymnastics, of the European Championships.
At the end of summer 2022, the event brought together the European Championships of nine different sports in Munich in a festival atmosphere that won over everyone: participants, spectators, authorities. It had the flavor of mini-Olympic Games, but simpler and less expensive, and as soon as the last medals were distributed, cities and countries leaving to take over appeared throughout Europe, like Lausanne and Switzerland.
