Alex Albon has completed fewer than 25 laps in four races since Austin. The Williams F1 driver suffered some serious bad luck, and he is hoping to bounce back in Qatar, during the Sprint and during the race.
“It’s no surprise that the last few months have been difficult for me and the team, but the season is not over yet and I hope we can finish on a high.” said the Thai pilot.
“We are heading to Qatar for our final Sprint weekend of the season and after a successful Sprint race last year we are hoping that our luck will change and we can achieve another positive result.”
“This circuit is still relatively new to most drivers, and it offers plenty of exciting racing opportunities throughout the weekend. Additionally, with the slight shift in race dates, temperatures in Qatar will be significantly lower compared to last year, so reliability and performance should be very different for each of us.”
Franco Colapinto knows that he will have to learn the Losail circuit and the challenges of Qatar to meet the challenge of this 23rd round: “I feel ready for the penultimate race of the season in Qatar this weekend.”
“It’s the last Sprint event on the calendar, which leaves me little time to learn a new circuit, but on the other hand we have an extra opportunity to fight for points.”
“The aim is to make the most of the free practice session alone to put ourselves in the best possible position for the rest of the weekend. I'm sure the hot and humid conditions will play a role. “The team will continue to give everything to finish the season as well as possible.”
Sven Smeets, Williams sporting director, salutes the unwavering motivation of his troops: “It was another tough weekend in Las Vegas, but the team showed great resilience.”
“It was encouraging to see that Alex was fighting for points when the car was running well. This weekend is the last Sprint race of the season, which gives us even more opportunities to score points and to turn the tide.”
“It will be a lot cooler than last year and it will be interesting to see how that might change the teams' performances across the grid. We had good results last year in Qatar so we are confident that we can fight for points again.”
