The race for qualification
Bayern remains in fact on three victories in five matches in this phase of the league. Vincent Kompany’s protégés also suffered two bitter failures.
First in England against Aston Villa on the 2nd day (1-0). Then in Spain the following day against FC Barcelona (4-1). At the end of the 5th day, Bayern provisionally occupies 11th place.
Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany, however, believes that there is still a lot to do in the upcoming matches:
“Hopefully at some point it will be a good thing if we win a few more games. Which is important for me to reposition ourselves. We will therefore have a good chance of finishing in the top eight.” declared the Belgian technician after the match.
The results of the 5th day
Bayer Leverkusen for its part dominated RB Salzburg 5-0, RB Leipzig on the other hand lost in Italy against Inter (1-0). FC Barcelona inflicted the first defeat on Brest (3-0).
Arsenal beat Sporting (5-1), Atalanta went to humiliate Young Boys Berne in Switzerland (6-1), Atlético Madrid also crushed Sparta Prague in the Czech Republic (6-0).
