Mohamed Aouzal, former president of Raja Club Athletic, was presented on Tuesday, November 26, before the prosecution of the Casablanca court of first instance. Accused of “breach of trust” and “complicity”, he was placed under arrest warrant at Oukacha prison, Barlamane.com learned from its sources.

This legal procedure follows a complaint filed by the insurance company Axa, which accuses Mr. Aouzal of having concluded, in 2006, a partnership project without honoring the annuities provided for in the agreement. The amount of unpaid amounts is estimated at 38.7 million dirhams, according to estimates.

Mr. Aouzal, born in 1949 in Casablanca, is an emblematic figure of Moroccan sport. He joined Raja Club Athletic in 1972 as assistant treasurer. In 1989, he was elected president of the club, leading the team to victory in the African Champion Clubs’ Cup that same year. He resigned three years later. In 1992, he became the first president of the steering committee of the multi-sports club and took charge of the athletics section in 2000. In April 2018, he chaired the provisional commission responsible for leading the club until the election of Jawad Ziyat in September of the same year.

Alongside his sporting activities, Mr. Aouzal was president of the National Group (GNF) from 1998 to 2010, vice-president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) between 1998 and 2009, and president of the Royal Moroccan Federation athletics (FRMA) from 2000 to 2006.
