ASM won 6 to 13 on Sunday in the 6th trip, in 8 days, to Gondrin. Now 4th, the Marciacais are preparing five home matches.
From this Sunday trip of ASM (the sixth in eight days of the championship) to Gondrin, we will definitely only remember this new success outside the red and whites… Because despite the November sun and the bucolic setting of the stadium Jean-Rey, the muddy pitch did not really invite good play. And in fact, it was a rough confrontation, peppered with mistakes and clumsiness on both sides, that the public witnessed.
In this difficult context, the Marciacais did well in the first period by quickly scoring the only try of the match thanks to a stolen ball from an opponent’s touchline which they took to the Gondrines goal after a great collective attack of 60 meters (Lauge-Larroze, 18th).
Trailing 6-10 at the break, the locals in vain multiplied the impacts around the rucks and scrums without ever managing to catch the Marciac defense. So much so that in the 50th minute, tempers heated up and we came close to a general brawl. Result: the two teams finished the match at 13 after two exclusions in each camp… And a few injuries.
ASM is nevertheless satisfied with this third away victory which allows it to return to 4th place in the group standings before continuing a series of five home matches until the end of January.
See you next Sunday for the Rabastens reception. There is no doubt that, even without a few elements, the Marciacais group, which was able to demonstrate great solidarity in the fight, will be keen to deliver a quality performance to its public from this Sunday, December 1 by hosting Rabastens XV (9th). The ASM therefore invites all the supporters of the two teams for its traditional pre-match meal. On the menu: vegetable broth, bruschetta, salad, beef stew, potatoes, passion fruit mousse, coffee.
