Ghent experienced a catastrophic evening on the field of Anderlecht during the last day of the championship. The Buffalos lost heavily and collected two red cards.
After the match, Wouter Vrancken was furious about the refereeing. According to the Ghent coach, Anderlecht had the advantage throughout the match.
Suspensions announced
This Tuesday, Ghent provided an update on the suspensions of Jordan Torunarigha and Matisse Samoise in a press release: “Matisse received a one-match suspension, plus one suspended match. Jordan is automatically suspended for this Sunday’s match against Westerlo due to his two yellow cards against Anderlecht.”
As a reminder, Jonathan Lardot (technical director of the professional refereeing department) declared on Monday that Tonarigha should not have received a second yellow card because his tackle was “clean”. However, VAR could not intervene in this action.
Ranking
Following their defeat against Anderlecht, Ghent fell to sixth place in the standings. After 15 days, the Buffalos only have 22 points, but Vrancken’s place does not yet seem in danger.
