In the ultras section of RSC Anderlecht, where the Mauves Army is located, a few banners also appeared on Sunday. One of them expressed his support for Tim Borguet, the new director of the youth academy. But there was also talk of “a stain on the wall”.
The atmosphere was good at Lotto Park this Sunday. The Mauves Army gave the team an extra boost before the match against Ghent. The atmosphere was of course great after a 6-0 victory. However, a few banners appeared during the match.
Tim Borguet was greeted with this message: “Neerpede is in good hands!”. Recognition for the former marketing director, now head of the youth academy.
Borguet played an important role in reestablishing relations between the club and supporters groups. However, the Mauves Army couldn’t help but throw a barb: the reference to “the stain on the wall”.
This alluded to their dissatisfaction with the inclusion of the name ofAxel Witsel on the wall of honor at Lotto Park. Following their protest, the club immediately withdrew the name.
Witsel is a controversial name at Anderlecht after the horror tackle on the leg of Marcin Wasilewskifavorite of the public. The supporters therefore won their case.
