Goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher, Olympic and world champion with the United States, announced Monday that she would retire internationally at age 36, at the end of the American team’s tour in Europe.

More than 100 selections

Naeher will honor his last two caps with Team USA during friendlies on Saturday in England and December 3 in the Netherlands. Naeher was part of two World Cup-winning American teams, as Hope Solo’s replacement in 2015 and as a starter in 2019, before helping the team win gold at the 2024 Olympics.

“With immense gratitude and very thoughtful consideration, I have decided to retire from international matches following the conclusion of these matches in Europe. […] Every tear shed in times of difficulty and disappointment made every smile and celebration in times of success even more joyful. This has been a special team to be a part of and I am extremely proud of what we have achieved both on and off the field.”she declared in particular.

Before her last two matches, she has 108 caps with a total of 86 successes and only six defeats in an international career started in 2014.
