The chronograph measures short times, but it has a long life. It is one of the first watch complications to have been developed and industrialized on a large scale since the advent of the wristwatch, a good century ago. Immediately adopted as a classic, it has become over time an emblem of the miniaturization of mechanisms. This key stage that characterizes the transition from the pocket to the wrist. Then the ages followed one another, carrying the evolution of styles and technologies over the decades. Until the ultimate stage of the automatic chronograph, completed in 1969 with the emergence of three legendary mechanisms. In order of appearance, the Seiko 6139, the Zenith El Primero and the Monaco Calibre 11 made legendary by Steve McQueen and TAG Heuer. Petrifying in the process the codes of the classic chronograph.
