David Perron with the Senators

There’s a lot of excitement in the Canadiens division.

Kent Hughes hasn’t moved yet… But we see that other Atlantic teams are improving.

For example? I’m thinking here of the Bruins, the Senators and the Leafs.

First, you should know that the Sens have added a veteran to their young group.

David Perron signed a two-year contract, an agreement that will allow him to earn $4 million per season:

I like the signature.

The Sens are trying new things… And adding Perron could be helpful, given that he has experience and is still capable of producing offensively.

It’s one more offensive weapon, in any case.

Now, we’ll have to see if it will be enough to allow the club to participate in the playoffs… Even with the departure of Jakob Chychrun, who was traded to Washington for peanuts:

Elias Lindholm and Nikita Zadorov in Boston

The Bruins wasted no time in making a big move in the free agent market.

They started it off strong by adding Elias Lindholm to the lineup… And Don Sweeney (GM) also agreed to terms on a contract with Nikita Zadorov.

Two big acquisitions in Boston.

Lindholm signed a seven-year contract worth $7.75 million per season.

It’s a lot, but the Bruins make sure they have a primary center responsible in all three zones of the rink.

For Zadorov, we are talking about a six-year contract at $5 million per season.

Zadorov, who likes to hit the opponent, will fit well with the Bruins’ culture… And it also allows the club to add toughness on defense.

Three big signings in Toronto

Brad Treliving has been a busy man since this morning.

He didn’t trade Mitch Marner… But he made some big signings.

The club signed Chris Tanev for six years at $4.5 million per season…

Joseph Woll has a new three-year contract in his pocket ($3.66 million per season)…

And Oliver Ekman-Larsson signed a four-year contract that will pay him $3.5 million per season.

Oh, I almost forgot!

Anthony Stolarz also signed a two-year deal with the Leafs.

He will act as second goalie behind Woll and will earn an average of $2.5 million per season:

Note that Matt Murray also signed a new agreement with the Leafs.

We’re talking about a one-year contract worth $875,000. He will be Toronto’s third goalie.

All this to say that the Atlantic division is improving visibly.

The clubs are (very) aggressive… And Kent Hughes is (very) calm.
