  • 1 The journey

After two difficult and bumpy days, the sprinters should be able to express themselves this Monday in Turin. Although the stage, starting from Piacenza, is long (230.8 km), it does not seem to be able to encourage breakaways. The fictitious start will be given at 11:15 a.m. and the finish is scheduled for 4:57 p.m.

After Marco Pantani on Sunday, this stage will pay tribute to Fausto Coppi and will pass through Tortona, where the Italian legend, double winner of the Tour de France (1949 and 1952), died.

  • 2 The issues

The “big thighs” will have their first chance to shine this Monday. Will Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck), who won four stages in 2023, manage to do better? Will Mark Cavendish (Astana) reach 35 Tour de France victories to overtake Eddy Merckx? There are many contenders on the starting line: Wout van Aert (Team Visma Lease a Bike), Arnaud De Lie (Lotto Dstny), Dylan Groenewegen (Team Jayco AlUla), Fabio Jakobsen (Team dsm-firmenich PostNL), Phil Bauhaus (Bahrain – Victorious) or the French Arnaud Démare (Arkéa-B & B Hotels) and Bryan Coquard (Cofidis).

But the green jersey, which they hope to bring back to Nice, is not assured to the winner. 70 points are to be distributed (20 during the intermediate sprint, 50 at the finish). However, Jonas Abrahamsen (Uno-X), the current carrier, already has 67 points while the favorites only have a few: Van Aert (22 points), Pedersen (21), Coquard (8), Philipsen ( 8), Start (5)

  • 3 Pogacar should keep his yellow jersey

Beaten in the sprint by Remco Evenepoel and Jonas Vingegaard on the 2nd stage, Tadej Pogacar should have a relatively quiet day. From Tuesday, the favorites for the final victory will have the opportunity to engage in a new battle.
