Did Amir Richardson make the right choice to join Fiorentina in Serie A? According to the international press, the Moroccan international had refused offers from four Premier League clubs including Everton before signing with the Italian club last summer from Stade de Reims.
Amir Richardson reportedly received two Premier League offers, each valued at £8 million, during the last transfer window, but preferred to join Serie A via Fiorentina.
The Atlas Lions player was reportedly approached by Everton and Tottenham after his impressive performances with the national team during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Everton had started negotiations with Richardson’s agent, and contacts were also made by Ajax Amsterdam and Fenerbahçe, as well as Leicester City.
However, Fiorentina managed to stand out thanks to the personal involvement of its president, Rafaele Palladino, who held a videoconference with the player to present the club’s project. Convinced, Richardson signed a contract running until the summer of 2029.
Since arriving in Italy, Richardson has started just three games in Serie A this season, following an exceptional Ligue 1 campaign with Stade de Reims. However, he is still struggling to find his rhythm in Italy, having played 12 matches in all competitions.
As a reminder, Amir Richardson has started nine times with the Moroccan national team since Walid Regragui decided to trust him to join the Atlas Lions.
